FIBER ARTS

What does it mean to “work like an artist”? How does installation art transform or respond to the space it exists in?

High school students unpacked these questions in a week long fiber arts course. Students visited the ICA in Boston, an alpaca farm, learned how to knit, needle felt, use natural dyes, and and made a group installation out of over 150 pom poms.

This collaborative 5 ft. x 4 ft. art piece transformed the school hallway into an eye-catching, bold, and playful space. Discover the joyfulness of the colors and shapes created from over 150 handmade pom poms. This piece can have many different meanings, feelings, or interpretations, leading to I See's name. Everyone can see something different within this form.
